Project 1
For my art portion of project 1, I attempted to mimic the ancient Greek art style that is vase-painting, but on a canvas instead. since my topics around ancient Greece I decided to dive back into my original idea that still incorporates that topic, which was Greek mythology. The figures are as follows: Ares (god of war), Athena (goddess of wisdom and war), and Aphrodite (goddess of love and beauty). These are the three Greek mythology figures that I found the most interesting, and the painting style is simple yet pleasing to the eye.
Project 2
For the art portion of project 2, I wanted to find a way to really captivate the perspective of people that have experienced Covid and how it can affect others. Firstly, I wanted to incorporate two different mediums which were paint and collaging different photos. In the middle of the canvas, there is a painting of what I would say are a mother and a daughter, which can stand for the perspective of citizens and how they view everything. In the back are a lot of collage photos and statistics about how much COVID has affected the US, and they are all black and white to symbolize how grey and depressing this time has been.
Project 3
For my art project 3, I wanted to incorporate symbolism into my project. I drew a hand reaching out, along with some fruit on the other side of the “break” in the paper. The fruit represents success and new achievements, which can symbolize what a better education could bring students. The hand is symbolizing students trying to reach these goals and achievements, yet the break in the paper and the vines wrapped around the hand are stopping that from happening, the vines representing the insufficient funding aspect.
Project 4
My idea for my fourth art project was to focus on the aspect of art therapy. A very famous test called the Rorschach test is a test where patients are shown a series of ink blot pictures and are asked to describe what they see. This was used to diagnose many mental illnesses. I decided to take that idea and make/recreate a similar series of images, called ambiguous images that look like two different things.
This first ambiguous image is one of the most popular illusion images on the internet. At first glance, you may see either a vase or two faces looking at each other. It is fairly easy to see both of these images, however, for some people it may not be which is the purpose of an ambiguous image.
The second ambiguous/illusion image I tried to replicate is a photo of what is either a man playing the saxophone or a woman’s face. This one is a little bit harder to tell the difference between since the image of the man on the saxophone is definitely more prominent than the woman’s face.
